THE MEANING OF THE
TREE OF LIFE

The tree in our logo represents the tree of life. You'll recognize the tree in many elements of our society today - for example, recently, Disney has depicted the tree of life in a number of its films, and it is prominent within the Disney world.

The tree of life concept originates biblically in the book of Genesis, Ch. 2: 8-9, "The Lord planted a garden eastward in Eden and there he put the man whom he had formed, and out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the site and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."

The tree of life is again depicted in the Bible in a heavenly setting in Revelation, Ch. 22: 1-4, "...and he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and the Lamb. In the middle of its street and on either side of the river was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations and there shall be no more curse and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it and the servants shall serve him. They shall see his face and his name shall be on their foreheads."

In my practice, I promote life, healing, and acknowledge that physicians are limited healers and that we all ultimately rely on the great healer.

"Equally important to us besides surgical skill is a good bedside manner. You have both qualities! We never felt rushed by you. It may have been your thousandth appy, but this was our son's first surgery. We're glad you were there for our son's emergency."
